<p>PURPOSE:To enable a cartridge to be direct transferred and hence to make the device efficient by disposing a cartridge carrier mechanism orthogonally to a cartridge take-out plane of a storage rack so as to connect between end parts of individual cases of cartridge liabrary units. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge holding part 4 for holding a cartridge tape 5, capable of vertically moving along a pillar 3a is provided on an automatic handling mechanism 3. The tape 5 disposed in the storage rack is selectively taken out by the mechanism 3, and is delivered to a magnetic tape device 7, where the tape 5 is recorded and reproduced. The tape 5 after recording and reproducing is disposed again in the storage rack 2 by the mechanism 3. Then, when the tape 5 is delivered to the cartridge carrier mechanism 8 provided on the end part of a cartridge library unit device 1 by the mechanism 3, the tape 5 is carried to a specified library unit by the mechanism 8. The carried tape 5 is received by the mechanism 3 of this unit to be disposed in the storage rack 2, and is also delivered to the magnetic tape device 7.</p> |
