<p>PURPOSE:To avoid the concentration of thermal stress and electric field in the periphery as well as the bread-off in the peripheral edge parts while enhancing the discharge withstand property by a method wherein the periphery of the potential linear resistor in the final shape is C-chamferred in a specific value. CONSTITUTION:The peripheral edge part of a calcined body is C-chamferred in width of 0.1-1.0mm after end face polishing or without the C-chamferring step, the sides of the calcined body are coated with a mixture paste for high resistor layer to be baked according to a specific baking schedule for making a baked body. Next, after polishing both end faces whereto electrodes are to be fitted, the electrodes are formed by flame coating step, etc., leaving them intact when they are already C-chamferred in the calcining step but after C- chamferring them in width of 0.1-1.0mm when they are not C-chamferred in the calcining step. Through these procedures, the concentration of thermal stress and electric field in the periphery as well as the break-off in the peripheral edge parts can be avoided while enhancing the discharge withstand property.</p> |
