The invention relates to a plate provided with calibrated holes which are arranged in a fixed pattern in the plate. The plate is made from dimensionally stable material, and one or more clips which are used to secure and/or hold together sheets of paper or other materials can be placed on the plate. The plate, with the clip(s) pushed on, is placed on a template which is provided with pins arranged in the same pattern as the holes in the plate. The template with the pins is arranged on a linked belt which transports the plates with clip(s) past the pads of an inking-pad printing machine. The fact that the holes in the plate are calibrated means that a clip which has been placed on the plate is continuously positioned, with the result that the various print runs carried out for one print are more accurately in register than was hitherto possible using the known inking-pad printing systems and associated components.
