Adjustable stop 12 delivers a -minimum spacing between fixed impression cylinder 1 and pivotally-mounted -blanket cylinder 3, and adjustable stop 13 defines a minimum spacing between blanket cylinder 3 and pivotally mounted plate cylinder 6. The cylinders 3, 6 are supported by pairs of bearers 4, 7, horizontally pivoted at 5, 8 respectively, and tripping lever 14 at each end of the cylinders engages the bearers 4, 7. First a surface 29 on each tripping lever 14 engages a pin 15 on its associated bearer 4, and as the lever 14 moves towards the cylinders blanket cylinder 3 is lifted from impression cylinder 1, then surfaces 30 on the levers 14 similarly engage pins 16 on the bearers 7 and plate cylinder 6 is lifted from blanket cylinder 3. Gears 17 18, 19 drive the cylinders 6, 3, 1 respectively, and,a constantmesh-transmission comprising two intermeshing pinions 20, 21 links gears 18, 19. Each of the pinions 20, 21 engages with a gear 18, 19, and is moveable along its circumference without parting from the other pinion. Movement of the linked pinions 20, 21 results in a rotation of gear 18 relative to gear 19, and provides a means of adjusting blanket cylinder 3, and the image which it carries in use, relative to impression cylinder 1. |
