PURPOSE: To provide a device for optically transmitting data without contact between separately positioned parts. CONSTITUTION: A high frequency generator 6 is provided on one end of a waveguide body 1 whose base body is composed of a photosensitive material and a high frequency receiver 2 is provided on the other end. An illumination pattern is formed by using a light source 3 and a mask 4 on the waveguide body, the amplitude of signals transmitted by the waveguide body is modulated by the keying of the light source and the reflection characteristics of the waveguide body are changed by the illumination pattern so as to be used for data transmission.
