LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY ELEMENT

PURPOSE:To make a two-layer type liquid crystal display element thin and light in weight. CONSTITUTION:A first layer 100 constituted by providing transparent electrodes 3 and 11 and oriented films 5 and 6 on the respective faced surfaces of two transparent substrates 1 and 2 and interposing nematic liquid crystal 7 between the films 5 and 6 and a second layer 200 constituted by providing oriented films 10 and 11 on the respective faced surfaces of two transparent resin plates 8 and 9 and interposing nematic liquid crystal 12 whose twist direction is reverse to that of the liquid crystal 7 of the first layer and whose angle is almost equal to it are provided. Then, the layers 100 and 200 are superposed so that the molecular axes of the respective liquid crystal thereof are almost orthogonally crossed. Besides, they are interposed by a pair of polarizing plates.
