PURPOSE:To improve brightness of an image and display quality by arranging plural pixels formed as containing a liquid crystal layer in a matrix state and forming several projections on the electrode in each pixel. CONSTITUTION:A TN liquid crystal display element 11 has a liquid crystal layer 14 between a pair of glass substrates 12, 13. Plural pixel electrodes 15 are formed in a matrix on the one substrate 12, while the substrate 13 has a common electrode 16. Polymer films 17, 18 are formed on the substrates 12, 13, respectively. Each pixel 19 consists of the picture element electrode 15, common electrode 16, and liquid crystal layer 14 interposed between the picture element electrode 15 and the common electrode 16. Further, the polymer films 17, 18 in each pixel 19 have projections formed almost in the center of the picture element and a projected part substantially continuous along the edge of the pixel. Several projections radially or rather randomly arranged are formed from the center projection to the peripheral projected part. |
