PURPOSE:To perform character modification/character type instruction with comparatively simple operations by simultaneously performing the operations of character input and character modification on a front end processor. CONSTITUTION:When information is inputted from an input device such as a keyboard 9 with Japanese syllabary(KANA) of Roman alphabets, this information is displayed in KANA on a CRT 3 while being stored in a PMEM 3. Next, the inputted KANA character string is converted to a character string mixing KANA and Chinese character (KANJI) and displayed. When an input instruction is performed from a user, an attention clause is moved to the other clause or the segmenting method of the clause is changed, for example. Further, the candidate of a homonym excepting for the conversion candidate displayed at the attention clause is selected. When a character modifying function is instructed/selected, based on information concerning possible character modification the user selects which kind of character modification is made to the present attention clause. Then, the selected modification information is stored on the PMEM 3, and the modified character string is displayed. |
