[Also in Division A3] A shoe upper of synthetic material, e.g. a poromeric material, has a turned top-line edge which contains a woven or braided reinforcement band comprising at least 60% by weight of an elastomer yarn having a polyurethane base. The reinforcement band is worked into the turned edge under a stretch of 10 to 50%, preferably 15 to 20%, to prevent bagging of the top line. The band may be woven entirely from elastomer yarn or may have a warp of elastomer yarn and a weft of nylon or cotton yarn. |
