LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device which is improved in the visual angle characteristics of not only forward and backward visual angle directions but in a direction perpendicular thereto as well and has a high display grade of the regions of the equal visual angle characteristics extending to a wide range. CONSTITUTION:The regions where different orientation characteristics face each other and the regions where the equal orientation characteristics face each other are made to coexist between both substrates 1 and 11. The visual angle characteristics in the direction perpendicular to the forward and backward two directions are formed by the combination of the equal pretilt angle delta between both substrates 1 and 11. Since the visual angle characteristics in the direction perpendicular to the forward and backward two directions are formed by the combination of the equal pretilt angle delta, the visual angle characteristics from two to three directions are made uniform. Boundaries 6 of the different orientation states of the one substrate are so arranged as to part the one orientation state of another substrate and, therefore, there is no need for forming a black matrix at the boundaries 6 by allowing for deviation.
