Compacting system for moulding and compacting moulding materials into moulded bodies in moulding boxes. In the case of use of vibration methods working using impact vibration for the compacting operation, the invention is intended to bring about a great reduction in noise generation and at the same time an improvement in quality. To this end, a novel method of construction and operation is proposed. With a view to the desired noise reduction, the impact point involved in the compacting impact is placed directly at the interfaces of the moulded bodies to be compacted (see Fig. 2) and thus use is also made of the noise-damping capacity of the moulding material. The vibration and impact movements are analysed with suitable measurement arrangements. By referring to any settable vibration angle feature, an impact phase angle can be defined, by which the compacting effect of any compacting impact is characterised. As a result of the great dependence of the compacting effect on the size of the impact phase angle, it is appropriate to make the impact phase angle itself into a regulating variable of a control of the vibration drive.
