In a device for extracting paint mist and vapours in the region of paint spraying installations, a housing-like extraction wall (1) is used, which can be connected to an extraction system via a connection (3). The extraction wall (1) has a filter element (2) inserted at its front side. Provided in the housing-like extraction wall (1) between the filter element (2) and the connection (3) or the extraction apertures (4) for the extraction system is a guide plate (6) which starts from the upper termination (5) of the extraction wall (1) and whose lower edge (7) ends at a distance from the bottom (8) and from the rear wall (9) of the extraction wall (1). By means of sections (16, 18) inclined at an acute angle and, if appropriate, sections (17) of the guide plate (6) which lie between them and run parallel to the filter element (2), a specific extraction profile is provided, which is adapted to the requirements at the relevant workplace. <IMAGE>
