DUAL OUTPUT MULTI FUNCTION INTERFACE DEVICE FOR AUDIO SYSTEMS

A multifunction amplifier device (68) for matching an audio signal from an audio signal source (18a - 18d), such as a video game, stereo or movie to a predetermined frequency of a transducer (12) is disclosed. The amplifier device (68) includes a low pass filler (58) coupled to the audio signal source for developing a filtered signal from the audio signal. A frequency dividing circuit (74) is coupled to the signal by a predetermined factor. The amplifier device further includes a decoding circuit (76) coupled to the low pass filter for selecting between a left and a right audio channel of the filtered signal and developing a decoded signal, and a muting circuit (78) is coupled to the decoding circuit. The muting circuit (78) only passes the decoded signal at levels above a variable threshold level. A power amplifier (80) is coupled to the frequency dividing circuit (74) and the muting circuit (78) for amplifying the audio signal.
