The invention, which relates to a position switch having a switch housing for mounting on an object which contains the switching mechanism and the electrical contacts and which is provided with a covering cap, is based on the object of specifying a position switch which, while satisfying the conditions for destruction resistance has overload protection, can be produced at a reduced cost, can be used in a flexible manner and is easy to instal. This object is achieved in that the switch housing is arranged such that it can be displaced in rotation and longitudinally before being fastened in a fastening part which at least partially engages around said switch housing, and can then be fastened in the fastening part. <IMAGE>
