The invention is based on the problem of developing a method and a device using which a large amount of conductor-specific data are determined during the stranding and compression process, preferably data which influence the temperature profile of the conductor, and are used to regulate the setting of the compressor roller of a compressor device within a stranding system. The said problem is solved in that the temperature of the surface of the conductor (4) is measured directly at the same time as the resistance of the compressed conductor (4) is measured in the region of the double-pulley outlet (5), the body temperature of the outlet pulley (7; 8) is measured directly, the environmental temperature of the double-pulley outlet (5) is measured and in each case one additional temperature measurement of the conductor (4) is carried out before and after the double-pulley outlet (5), and all the measurements which have been obtained are fed to an evaluation and regulation device (10) in order to regulate the compresor roller setting. The field of application of the invention is primarily in the area of the cable-making industry (stranding industry). <IMAGE>
