A change-over or exchange device for the change-over or exchange (doffing) of full cops or empty yarn carriers on a ring frame or a high-draft speed frame comprises a plurality of spindles, onto which the full cops or the empty yarn carriers can be placed in each case, a clamping device for clamping one of the empty yarn carriers, which is to be arranged on one of the plurality of spindles, or for gripping one of the full cops which is to be removed from one of the spindles, a positioning device, on which the clamping device can be mounted, a transfer or blocking device which is connected to the positioning device for the purpose of transferring or displacing the positioning device, and a conveying device for receiving the full cops which, after removal from the spindles, are located or deposited thereon and for providing empty yarn carriers which are clamped by the clamping device. The device is characterised in that the clamping device comprises a clamping member (24, 24') and a separating member (26, 26'). Such an exchange device can protect its relevant parts against damage or deformation or breaking, in order to lower the operating costs for the production of full cops and to obtain full cops more efficiently. <IMAGE>
