In a method for detecting the roller test bench operation in a motor vehicle, the wheel speeds of both the front wheels of the motor vehicle are compared with a predetermined wheel speed threshold close to zero. In addition, the difference between the wheel speeds of the rear wheels of the motor vehicle is compared with a predetermined wheel speed difference threshold which is close to zero. Finally, a roller test bench operation is detected if both the wheel speeds of the front wheels of the motor vehicle are smaller than the wheel speed threshold and also the wheel speed difference of the rear wheels of the motor vehicle is smaller than the wheel speed difference threshold.
