Method and device for polishing strand-shaped material

For polishing strand-shaped material (4) in order to improve the surface quality after rotary peeling, it is proposed to use a polishing head (1) in which roller pairs (7, 10) of different camber are arranged. The rollers (5, 6) of the first roller pair (7) have a greater camber than the rollers (8, 9) of the second roller pair (10) and penetrate deeper into the material (4) to be worked. As a result, an excellent smoothing action on the surface is achieved, the waviness of the material which then usually occurs being levelled by the second roller pair (10) of less penetration depth. The roller pair (7) is arranged, with respect to its circumferential line of greatest camber, in front of the circumferential line of greatest camber of the said roller pair (10) in the feed direction of the material to be worked (fig. 1). <IMAGE>
