1283455 Pharmaceutical compositions containing alkanediols and esters thereof PARKE DAVIS & CO 1 Sept 1970 [2 Sept 1969] 41863/70 Heading A5B [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions in dosage unit form possessing serum triglyceride and serum cholesterol-lowering activity, suitable for internal administration, comprise a pharmaceutical carrier and 20 to 1,000 mg. per dosage unit of a compound of formula: where n is 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10, each of R and R<SP>1</SP>, which may be the same or different, represents hydrogen; an acyl radical of a hydrocarbon monocarboxylic acid containing at most 12 carbon atoms; an acyl radical of a hydrocarbon dicarboxylic acid containing at most 6 carbon atoms or a pharmaceutically acceptable cationic salt thereof; phenylalanyl or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof such as the hydrochloride, sulphate, phosphate, citrate or maleate salt; or a phosphono radical or a pharmaceutically acceptable cationic salt thereof such as Na, K, Ca, ammonium or amine salt. The compositions may be administered orally or parenterally in the form of tablets, capsules, lozenges, pills, powders, solutions or suspensions, optionally containing other therapeutic agents. |
