<p>A sampling device (2) includes a barrel (4) having a downhole end (16), an exterior surface (8), an interior surface (10) defining a hollow interior (12), and an open end (20) at the downhole end (16) of the hollow interior (12). A fluid entrance (6) penetrates the exterior surface (8). A fluid path (30) having an outlet port (39) is fluidly coupled to the fluid entrance (6). The device (2) is driven into a subsurface so that a soil sample is forced into the hollow interior (12). While the device (2) is still in the subsurface, a fluid sample is collected through the fluid entrance (6) and fluid path (30).</p> |
