In the case of a pressure transmitter (11) for registering the pressure in the combustion chamber of internal combustion engines, a plunger (15) is arranged in a hole (12) of the housing (10) and acts with one of its ends on a measuring element (19), with the result that a measurement signal which is proportional to the pressure in the combustion chamber is generated. The other end of the plunger (16) is in direct effective connection to the pressure prevailing in the combustion chamber. In addition, there is arranged in the wall of the hole (12) a seal (25) which protects the measuring element (19) from a direct pressure and temperature effect.
