The invention relates to a feed apparatus for wood processing, in which apparatus the feed rate can be regulated in an infinitely variable manner. The feed rate is regulated in steps or in an infinitely variable manner via a frequency converter which is built into the drive motor. Furthermore, it has been found that the feed apparatus remains non-live after a voltage interruption, as a result of a built-in autonomous device such as a zero-current switch, and it is not possible for the apparatus to start automatically at the end of said voltage interruption. <IMAGE>
