The aerodynamic stabilizer is an airfoil (a wing), which is mounted on a caravan A-frame. It leads part of the airflow, which otherwise would impringe on the front, up and over the caravan roof. This reduces the total air resistance and therefore the lifting force on the nose. At the same time the airfoil puts pressure on the nose and balances the noseweight. The airfoil is equipped with vortex plates which increases the effect and aids adjustment of the angle of attack. The support arm is pivoted. The aerodynamic stabilizer allows towing a caravan with low noseweight and high stability, it eliminates the "critical speed". |
