<p>The battery-powered lawn cutting system uses one or more removable, rechargeable batteries (24) to enable the lawnmower to be operated for an extended period of time. The lawnmower is operated with a first battery until the first battery is discharged to a selected level. The first battery is then removed, placed in a quick-charge recharger (14), and replaced with a second, charged battery. The lawnmower is then operated until the lawn is cut or until the second battery becomes discharged. The second battery is then removed and replaced with either the recharged first battery or with a third, charged battery. Each of the batteries may be relatively small and is provided with a handle (52) at its upper end to enable it to be easily lifted out of the lawnmower and carried to the recharger. The weight of the lawnmower is reduced, thereby increasing maneuverability since only a single, relatively small battery is carried on the lawnmower at any one time.</p> |
