The invention relates to an arrangement of a cross-country ski binding (10) and a cross-country ski boot adapted thereto which, at the front of its sole, has engagement elements which can be introduced into complementary engagement elements (26; 36, 77) of the binding (10) to produce a hinge-like connection. In this arrangement the engagement elements on the sole have a hinge axis extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the ski and approximately parallel to the running surface of the sole of the cross-country ski boot, and the complementary engagement elements (26; 36, 77) on the binding have a retaining hook (36) which engages behind the axis of the hinge and forms a hinged joint therewith. This can be moved out of a closed position into a release position and vice versa. According to the invention, the axis of the hinge is arranged in the region of the front of the sole corresponding to the ball of the foot, and a resiliently supported sole contact element (49) is provided in the region in front of the axis of the hinge, between the sole and the top surface (46) of the ski. <IMAGE>
