Brake-pad carrier

The metal brake-pad carrier for disc brakes on commercial vehicles comprises a part in plate form connected firmly to a brake pad on the front side, and a pressure piece which distributes the force of a brake piston over the surfaces of the part in plate form. In known embodiments, the pressure piece consists of forged steel and is therefore expensive and heavy. In order to provide a lighter brake-pad carrier which can be produced as cheaply as possible, the pressure piece and the part in plate form are formed by a single aluminium die casting provided on the rear side with a multiplicity of reinforcing ribs. The production costs for the overall brake-pad carrier are only slightly higher than for the previous carrier plate on its own, and the weight of the pad carrier is significantly reduced. <IMAGE>
