Method of removing metal from cooling lubricants

The removal of dissolved metal from cooling lubricants is at present solved only very unsatisfactorily in complicated separation processes. It is an object of the invention to propose a method which allows simple and direct metal removal from the cooling lubricant. This object is achieved by the cooling lubricant to be treated being electrolysed with material transport assistance in an electrolysis cell, preferably in the vicinity of the electrode, with at least one metal present in the cooling lubricant being deposited by electrochemical reaction. The electrolysis can, as desired, be continued to a desired dissolved metal concentration level or to a low final concentration which also permits biological disposal.
