Compression strut having a profile such that on exceeding the bend strength load it undergoes a large deformation with fracturing. The edge fibre distances (e1,e2) of the profile are reducible to neutral fibres (5).The profile has two side shanks (4) which are joined to each other by a bar (3). The bar behaves as a kind of joint or hinge and both shanks are movable in the direction of the bending axis.
