An image-forming machine equipped with a transfer means (30) of the type not using a transfer corona discharger is disclosed. A charge supply member (38) is disposed opposite to an image forming member (4) on whose surface a toner image is to be formed and at a greater distance (D) than the thickness of a transfer material (26) from the image forming member (4). In a transfer zone (12), the surface of the transfer material (26) is brought into contact with the surface of the image forming member (4). In a charge supply zone (46), the transfer material (26) is contacted with the surface of the charge supply member (38).
