<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a product having a high precision in edge drop by preliminarily preparing a predictive model formula concerning the edge drop of a rolling stock, determine and setting the shift quantity so that an edge drop quantity on the exit side of the last pass calculated by using this formula prior to a rolling may coincide with a target value. CONSTITUTION:A work roll is used which is tapered toward the end of the roll body and which is shiftable in the direction of the body shaft, and an edge drop control is performed by a presetting prior to a plate rolling. A deviation is calculated by an arithmetic control device 3 between a target edge drop quantity and the actual measured value of the edge drop of a material on the exit side of the last pass. A timing to shift the work roll is given with this deviation as an index, the number of times of the roll shift operation is thereby reduced as much as possible, a model parameter is simultaneously learned so as to converge the calculation error to zero, and the predictive model formula of the edge drop is renewed. Consequently, an edge drop control is precisely performed by a small number of roll shift operations.</p> |
