PURPOSE: To provide a bearing mechanism for a rotating shaft, allowing accurate prediction of the load at which bolts actually shear and capable of highly reliable operation. CONSTITUTION: This bearing mechanism 15 for a rotating shaft 11 includes a plurality of frangible bolts 23 located concentrically of an axis of rotation for attaching the flange portion 21 of a bearing housing 20 to a support structure 22, each of the bolts 23 having axially spaced apart radial flanges 25, 26 and a frangible portion 24 located between the radial flanges 25, 26 and spacing the flange portion 21 of the bearing housing 20 axially from the support structure 22.
