PURPOSE:To provide an ink supply mechanism of an ink jet recording apparatus enhanced in the receiving efficiency of ink and the supply properties of the ink to a recording head and capable of certainly suppressing the influence due to the change of circumferential environment. CONSTITUTION:When the pressure in an ink tank 1 is relatively reduced by the consumption of ink or the change of circumferential environment, an elastomer membrane 4 expands toward the interior of the ink tank 1 in a protruding state. When the pressure in the ink tank 1 is further reduced, an air bubble enters the ink tank l from the meniscus formed to an ink meniscus forming member 3 to raise the pressure in the ink tank 1 and the negative pressure in the ink tank 1 is kept almost constant. When the pressure in the ink tank 1 increases relatively, the protruding state of the elastomer membrane 4 is gradually reduced to keep the negative pressure in the ink tank 1 almost constant. Ink is always supplied to the ink meniscus forming member 3 by the elastomer membrane 4. |
