<p>A pref. extruded plastic chain of tooth elements is attached e.g. by stitching to one edge of a fabric, and each tooth element has an enlarged head which resiliently engages in a pref. flattened tubular socket of a cooperating socket element, attached to an adjacent edge of the fabric. Pref. the socket elements are extruded as a chain which is stitched to the fabric. A sliding clasp has a central wedge shaped portion which disengages each tooth head from its associated socket, and a converging channel which forces the tooth heads into their associated sockets. The fastener is used on elasticated garments and does not come undone when the fabric is stretched in the longitudinal direction of the fastener.</p> |
