<p>Bitumen compsn. contains varying amts. of a polysulphide free of elemental S. Include road-surfacing compsns., sealing materials, paper-coating materials, sound-proofing compsns., underwater coating compsns. and in hydraulic plants. Combines the known advantages of adding rubber (i.e. polybutadiene), sulphur and mod. sulphur (i.e. dithiols) without their concomitant disadvantages such as expense, corrosive action on metals and cold-flow props. The novel compsns. are easily workable, resistant to heat and cold, have good elastic props., are water-proofing and are not attacked by oils.</p> |
