EXTRACTING COMPOSITION FROM RICINUS AND COPTIS PLANT FOR INHIBITION OF SPORES GERMINATION

The preparation method and formulation using extracts of plant Ricinus (I) and Coptis (II) for food preservatives consists of a mixture of defatted starch of (I) and berberine of (II) in 1:5-5:1. The berberine is extracted by (1) soaking (II) in hexane and chloroform (1:1) and (2) disrupting ricin as toxic protein and ricinine as toxic alkaloid at 120'C. This formulation prevents spore germination of Clostridium.
