A synthetic resin bottle stopper 1 comprises a hollow stopper-part 2 having a wall 5 tapered at 15, 16 which is pressed into the neck 4 of a bottle and a skirt part 3 which encloses the neck 4, there being a diaphragm wall 6 extending across the stopper-part 2 externally from the thickest section 17 of the wall 5, while the skirt comprises a wall 7 with an inwardly projecting bead 9 for engaging a groove 10 in the bottle. The stopper is injection moulded from low-pressure polyethylene or polypropylene and is heated before insertion into the bottle. Other embodiments show an annular groove (20), Fig. 4 (not shown), running around the skirt and wall (8), a stopper-part having a curved outer surface on the wall (5), (Fig. 3, not shown), and reinforcing ribs (21), (22), Fig. 5 (not shown), on the diaphragm (6) and wall (5).</p> |
