Method of decorating a part (1) based on plastic and made by injection moulding. A decorative element (2) is first placed in the mould which is subsequently closed. This decorative element (2) is thin, self-supporting, can be deformed perpendicularly to its plane, and is cut out such that it can be deformed and applied flat, without wrinkling, onto the internal face of a female part of the mould; the material making up the part is injected into the mould and, once the part has been made in this way incorporating the decorative element, it is removed from the mould which is opened for this purpose. The decorative element (2) used is a sheet of coated paper with a concealed shiny face (3) on one side, which is in contact with the plastic, and on the other side a matt face (4) including a decorative design in the form of a powder (5) of one or more minerals with a diluent, this face (4) being calendered, covered with an adhesive (10) and with a polypropylene film (7). <IMAGE> |
