The appts. comprises a memory for storing a digital video signal generated from D/A convertor; a processor storing the video signal obtained by expansion of the compressed data of the digital video signal; formatting means for reading the compressed video data from the first and second memories of the compressed data storage means and formatting the read video data at a fixed rate; and an error correcting code generating means for detecting an error of the compressed video data formatted by the formatting means, generating an additional code for correction of the detected error and outputting the generated additional code tegether with the compressed video data.
