The equaliser for reducing the inter-symbol interference (IIS) for a receiver with N sensors belonging to a digital communications system includes means for memory storage, at any instant, of p successive data items received by each sensor. The product (N-1)p is chosen to be greater than the number nm-1 of successive symbols occurring significantly in the ISS. A linear filter receives the Np data items, and, at every instant, supplies an evaluation of a respective symbol. The filter is equipped with means of adapting its coefficients by a constant-modulus algorithm, without reference sequence. <IMAGE>
