Improved front axle assembly for a motor vehicle of the type having a steering element arranged between an element of the structure of the vehicle and a stub axle holder (2) which can move with respect to a transverse suspension arm (3) articulated to an element of the chassis (3'), the stub axle holder (2) being orientated with respect to the said arm (3) by means of a steering rod (5), characterised in that the stub axle holder is mounted so that it can rotate on a plate (7) to which the steering element is attached and in that the plate (7) is connected to the suspension arm (3) via a linkage mechanism (6) for the purpose of reducing the offset of a wheel at the stub axle. <IMAGE>
