A salt composition containing 15-70 % of NaCl, 5-85 % of K/Mg double salts, and 0-65 wt. % of KCl, with the molar ratio of potassium to magnesium being greater than or equal to 1, was found, when used instead of table salt (NaCl), to effect an unexpectedly major lowering of the systolic and the diastolic blood pressure in human beings. A more suitable salt composition still to this end is found when such a salt composition in addition contains at least 16 wt. % of potassium chloride and, preferably, also trace elements in an amount of 0 to 2 wt. %. Notably, a beneficial effect is observed in people suffering from a mild to moderate form of hypertension.
|
