In the case of a method for controlling process-technological devices which are equipped with at least one monitoring sensor for at least one of their operating parameters and with an indicator unit for indicating at least the relevant monitoring sensor and, if necessary, for indicating the associated operating parameter and its dimension, the monitoring sensor activates a blocking system, contained in a control system, for bringing the device to a standstill in the case of the monitoring device responding or failing. In order to reduce the standstill times of the device in permissible cases, by actuating an inactivation switch which belongs to the control system and is assigned to the relevant monitoring sensor, this monitoring sensor is taken out of operation or is taken out of consideration by the control system, the originally activated blocking system is inactivated and the previously blocked device is set into operation once more.
