Perimeter for examining glaucoma and ocular hypertension in particular and for determining diagnosis-relevant indices

A perimeter is proposed for examining glaucoma and ocular hypertension in particular, with points which are arranged in a grid about a central field of vision. The points are successively illuminated during the course of the examination and the ability of the patient to detect these points is determined. The points around the central field of vision are at a short distance from one another (central area), the points extending from this area in the direction of the temples and upwards and downwards are at a correspondingly greater distance from one another (temporal area), and finally the points adjoining the latter in the nasal direction show by comparison the greatest distance from one another (nasal area) and/or in the upper and lower halves of the field the values of the sensitivity to differences in light at the test points are measured, in each case added up by area and related as quotient and/or a glaucoma progression risk index (=GPI) is determined and recorded on the basis of the following equation GPI = - a + b x syst.
