Method and circuit arrangement for synchronising communication cell streams transmitted redundantly

In a cell-oriented communications network (ATMN), control cells are in each case inserted at fixed time intervals into two streams of communication cells transmitted redundantly via a pair of paths (EP, AP). The control cells in each case contain a sequence number which continuously changes from control cell to control cell. At the end of the pair of paths, the occurrence of control cells is monitored separately for the two streams of communication cells. In this connection, the sequence numbers occurring in the streams of communication cells are first used for determining which of the two streams of communication cells is leading. The leading stream of communication cells is then delayed until identical sequence numbers occur in the streams of communication cells.
