A male connector (5) and mating female connector (4) for use in a cordless electric water heating jug. The male connector (6) has a cup-shaped body with an open base within which are located a central pin terminal (19) and two concentric annular terminals (20, 23). The body of the female connector (4) is dimensioned to fit within the male connector (6) and has openings (32, 33) to receive pin (19) and terminal (20) so that they may engage terminals (40, 42). A further terminal (45) projects from the side wall of the female connector for with annular terminal (23).
