A calliper housing (1, 10) of the generic type belonging to a floating calliper for disc brakes has an aperture (8, 9) in a bridge portion (2, 3) projecting over the edge of a brake disc. To achieve higher rigidity of the calliper housing (1, 10) without a significant increase in weight and without significantly impairing the ventilating effect of the aperture (8, 9), the invention provides for the two bridge portions (2, 3) bounding the aperture (8, 9) to be connected to one another by at least one integrally cast web (7, 11), the aperture being divided into two axially adjacent openings (8, 9). <IMAGE>
