An ink knife with slots and grooves which are arranged in the width direction of the ink knife, the grooves opening out into the front active edge of the ink knife, and the slots being arranged in the grooves and ending at a specific distance away from the active edge and being preferably of T-shaped design at that point, as a result of which the ink knife is deformed elastically in the region of the width of the grooves and the distance "A" from the active edge with the thickness "D" only when the individual sectors are adjusted.
