A toggle switch, in particular for motor vehicles, having a toggle lever which is mounted in a spring-loaded manner in a housing (3) and is used as an operating device (4). At least one switching element (14), which acts on connecting contacts (9, 17), is provided in the housing. In order to obtain a toggle switch which has a small number of individual parts as well as a small switching angle, the switching element (14) is constructed as a one-armed pivoting lever (15) which influences the associated connecting contact (17) via a snap-action (16).
