1,157,936. Fibre-reinforced tubes. BASLER STUCKFABEREI A.G. 11 Aug., 1966 [31 Aug., 1965], No. 36029/66. Heading B5A. Fibre-reinforced tubes are produced by rotational casting by introducing hardenable material into the mould, rotating the mould 1 with the material in a fluid state, and delivering reinforcing fibres on to it from a point within the mould, spaced from the rotational axis, adjacent the walls and longitudinally movable along the mould, and varying the longitudinal position to match the direction and velocity of delivery of fibres with the circumferential velocity so that the direction and velocity of delivery are substantially uninfluenced by the rotation as the fibres engage the moulded tube. The material is preferably thermosetting.. The fibres are preferably delivered to the tube walls normal to the axis of rotation or at an angle to the normal. Distributer head 3 on arm 2 is movable longitudinally in the mould and contains means to deflect the fibres and means to cut a continuous fibre length into short fibre elements before such deflection.
|
