An article having sewable materials, with at least one seam which connects sewable sheet-like structures to one another, is characterised in that the sewing thread used to make the at least one seam has, at least on its outer surface, at least one precursor material of a product which imparts to a seam made with a thread of this type an increased adhesion to the sewing material and/or which is converted into such a product which enlarges the outside diameter of the sewing thread, after the sewing, by activating a property enlarging the actual or the apparent volume and/or is converted chemically, after its activation, to form a product which imparts increased bonding to the sewing thread.
